Oakland Technical High School 2026 Auction

The annual auction raises money to pay for college counseling, sports equipment, art, drama and music programs and students’ Advanced Placement Test fees.

My kids both attended Oakland Tech and we have a debt of gratitude for all they got out of it. I have been donating art to Tech’s annual auction since 2018.

POSTCARD ART EXHIBIT 2026 Opening Exhibition & Sale: June 6, 2026

The Postcard Art Exhibit (P.A.E.) proudly announces its 15th international exhibition, opening June 6, 2026 (6 juni 2026) at See Lab Project Space in Scheveningen, The Hague, Netherlands — a beloved coastal district known for its rich cultural heritage and thriving artist community.

This year’s exhibition, curated by Dutch artist Tessa Maagdenberg, will support the Blijft-je-Bij art program at Museum Beelden aan Zee — a groundbreaking initiative for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

POSTCARD ART EXHIBIT 2026

IS ABOUT ARTISTS SUPPORTING PEOPLE AFFECTED BY ALZHEIMER'S

The Blijft-je-Bij program, inspired by the Meet Me at MoMA initiative in New York and Dutch programs such as Onvergetelijk Museum (Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam) and the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, invites participants and their caregivers to experience art together in a safe and inspiring space. Guided by specially trained educators, the program focuses on shared discovery and open conversation — helping participants reconnect through memory, emotion, and creativity.

Funds raised through P.A.E. 26 will directly support this program, expanding access to art as a bridge to self-esteem, joy, and human connection.

Founded in 2009 by artist David Sandum, the Postcard Art Exhibit (born as Twitter Art Exhibit) uses small works of art to make a big difference. Since then, thousands of artists across 65 countries have donated postcard-sized originals to raise funds for charitable causes.

For 2026, artists are invited to submit original 13 × 17.5 cm (5 × 7 in) artworks that express hope, connection, and creativity. Each postcard sold helps bring art experiences to those living with Alzheimer’s — turning art into healing and remembrance.

The exhibition will be hosted at See Lab Project Space, an artist-run cultural hub just steps from the sea in The Hague’s historic artist quarter. Housed in a charming brick school building, See Lab is home to a thriving community of contemporary artists — a perfect setting for this celebration of art and purpose.

Hundreds of miniature original works of art all just 13 cm x 17.5 cm (5 in x 7 in)

Nourish Your Roots: My Foggy Woods Series of Cyanotype Landscapes

Nourish Your Roots: My Foggy Woods Series of Cyanotype Landscapes

Being among trees has brought me happiness ever since childhood. Hiking among them on silent foggy mornings has been a great comfort to me since losing my husband in 2022.

I grew up next to Golden Gate Park, feeding squirrels that ran down from the trees and I climbed up the trees myself. At 10, I won a disposable camera and shot the whole first roll of nothing but the trees on my grandparents’ land. Without trees, there would be no oxygen and no life on earth. Trees are vital to life, to slowing climate change, and to mental health. People forget they are more than beautiful.

This exhibition’s theme is “Nourish Your Roots.” Though I now live in the Oakland hills, my roots are in San Francisco. I learned to swim at this very Jewish Community Center on California St. Trees live much longer than us, silently saving the world without being asked. There is nothing more optimistic than planting a tree. The exhibition’s opening is near the Jewish holiday Tu Bishvat, a day to plant trees and care for the earth that makes all life possible.
