Pink skies at dawn mean a beautiful day. The color of the under layer, the gray, was applied very thinly before painting the sky. The pale pink sky allows for a hint of the darker color to show through giving a quiet sort of vibration. The painting is essentially a painting of negative space much in the way a woodcut is made by carving away all that is not the subject.
The sides are painted the same gray as the leaves, the under layer, creating a virtual frame.
*OPTIONAL: For an additional charge, this can be framed in a white 2-inch deep solid wood floater frame. $150 is far less than a framer charges for this size. I pass it on at cost and only charge for my labor. Email me before purchase if you want it framed. I need to adjust the price.
