Blue Eucalyptus III. (30 x 22.5" original cyanotype)
(30 × 21.5 inch cyanotype on paper)
Unframed.
Although this monotype of three colors resembles a screen print, it is actually a form of photography. All my botanical cyanotypes are one-of-a-kind slow cameraless photographs made outdoors using natural light and real plants, not stencils or photo negatives. There is no lens and there is no ink, etched plate or printing press.
This is a triple-exposure cyanotype, which means that the three different colored sections of the print were exposed to light for three different amounts of time, creating the varying shades of blue instead of a single exposure yielding a solid white silhouette against a dark background.
On 100% cotton Arches watercolor paper with deckled edges. It could be float-mounted with the edges showing. Signed on the back.
Depictions of works on paper framed are just to show how much more wall will be covered once they are matted and framed.
