Sunrise Ridge (23x 35" Artist's Proof, hand-printed cyanotype)
Artist’s Proof. A perfectly crisp unblemished 23 × 35 inch handmade print on 24 × 36” watercolor paper. The only difference is the negative was accidentally flipped over, so this is a mirror image of the “correct” version in the final run of 3 “perfect” prints this size. The small oak tree is on the right side in this print, while in all other prints it is on the left.
This is the largest version of the same landscape also available in multiple smaller hand-printed sizes.Brand-new addition to the Foggy Woods Collection of forests in northern California near San Francisco. New as of May 17, 2024. This is a hand-printed contact photograph using the antique cyanotype process and big negatives the same size as the final print.
These iconic Monterey pines can be found all up and down the coast of northern California from San Francisco to Carmel and beyond. These are the woods in the hills of Oakland, across the bay from San Francisco. At dawn the fog can be thick transforming the world into a hushed monochromatic version of itself.
All are on hand-stained pure cotton watercolor paper paper, then printed by hand outdoors using natural sunlight for exposure with giant photo negatives.
Unframed.
Slight variation in shade exist from print to print.
Signed on the back by the artist.
