Pine Ridge (36 x 24" Framed hand-printed cyanotype)
The photograph itself measures 30 × 18 inches. Matted and framed in a slim 1” deep warm white wood frame, it is 36 × 24 inches.
These iconic Monterey pines can be found all up and down the coast of northern California from San Francisco to Carmel and beyond. These are the woods in the hills of Oakland, across the bay from San Francisco. At dawn the fog can be thick transforming the world into a hushed monochromatic version of itself.
I only printed 3 editions of this largest size. This is a hand-printed contact photograph using the antique cyanotype process and big negatives the same size as the final print. All are on hand-stained pure cotton watercolor paper paper, then printed by hand outdoors using natural sunlight for exposure with giant photo negatives.
There are also smaller 24 × 16” and 11 × 7.5” hand-printed versions of the same image listed for purchase. Slight variations in the shades of blue exist from print to print.
