Silver Vines II (24 x 18" original cyanotype on paper)
(24 x 18" original cyanotype on watercolor paper)
Unframed.
Although this resembles a block print or screen print, this is actually a form of 19th-century photography, a cyanotype, also known as a sun print or blue print.
The normal color of a cyanotype (blueprint) is dark blue and white. However, this highly unusual bluish gray cyanotype was made by altering the ratio of two photo chemicals in the mixture before brushing it on the paper.
All of my botanical cyanotypes are unique monotypes. There is no carved block or etched plate to ink up twice to reproduce this composition.
