Sunrise Japanese Maple II (Framed 36 x 36" Oil Painting)
Framed in a 2-inch deep white solid wood floater frame which accentuates the pale yellow sky. The framed dimensions are 38 x 38 inches. The same size and same frame as Sunset Oak (2026) and Sunrise Oak and Daybreak Japanese Maple (2025). Canvas itself is 36 × 36 × 1.5 inches with red painted sides.
This is a painting of the Japanese maple in my front yard. The red of the branches is a thin, think flat under layer and the creamy robin’s egg blue sky light-filled sky was painted on top. This is essentially a painting of the negative space—all that is not the tree— rather like one carves a woodcut or block print. The darker red first layer under the light blue-green makes the sky glow like a sunrise at dawn.
