The image of plum branches at dusk is from an evening hike I took during one of the first hot nights this summer. I wanted to capture the moment that the sky turns to a watercolor blue with all the branches turned to dark silhouettes.The translucent layers in this acrylic painting give it a wonderful glow. The darker blue undercoat was painted thinly and allowed to show through as the shapes of the leaves. The paler blue twilight sky was scrubbed in multiple sheer layers with the darkness peeking through to create a vibrancy like a quiet hum.
